Gary L. Essig

Gary L. Essig, 75, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on October 1st, 2023. Gary was born on August 23, 1948, in Indianapolis Indiana to the late Louis O. Essig and Mildred Essig. Gary married Julie Essig on December 16th, 1988.  She preceded him in death on August 31, 2019. Gary will be lovingly remembered by his two children: son Louis G. Essig, and daughter Colleen E. Essig; grandchild: Jaden Ross; as well as numerous friends and loved ones. He was the true definition of a man and father. Gary worked for the Grandview Heights School District from November 2008 to March 2016. He was also a graduate of Grandview Heights in 1966. Gary was drafted into the military soon after high school and served in the United States Army from July 1972 to January 1977. He was an extremely proud Grandview Bobcat and raised his family in the same district. Gary was an all-American family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchild. He enjoyed watching Ohio State sports as well as the Chicago Cubs. A memorial ceremony will take place on October 18th, 2023, at Wyman Woods Shelter House in Grandview Heights from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
